Help keep Smith Lake clean!

This Spring we have TWO opportunities to join the Smith Lake Environmental Preservation Committee in our efforts to keep Smith Lake clean. Please consider joining us for one OR BOTH of these cleanups! (Registration starting soon)

  • Lunch is provided for all volunteers!
  • SLEPC Renew Our Rivers Cleanup T-shirts are provided to all volunteers at the end of the event!
  • All we need is YOU.

1. Friday, April 14**  •  Renew Our Rivers / SLEPC Smith Lake Cleanup (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM with lunch provided)

PLEASE REGISTER (registration starting soon) by Monday, April 10th, as we need to have a headcount for lunch and T-shirts.

We will meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Smith Lake Park Boat Launch (TBD) for sign-in and safety guidelines. We will load the boats and head out to clean areas of Simpson Creek and Ryan Creek from Smith Lake Park to Big Bridge. Lunch is provided by Alabama Power.

** Many companies provide paid time off when you volunteer for a community service project. Check with your employer to see if they provide this benefit! Help keep Smith Lake clean and beautiful, and make new friends in the process.

2. Saturday, April 22 Earth Day  •  Adopt-A-Mile Roadside Cleanup (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM with lunch to follow)

PLEASE REGISTER (registration starting soon) by Wednesday, April 19th, as we need to have a headcount for lunch and T-shirts.

LOCATION: Meet at Ryan’s Creek RV Resort and Campground (turn off CR 222 at the Smith Lake Park Sign across from Whitlocks Cafe like you are heading to Smith Lake Park from CR 222, then take the second entrance on the right past the bridge). We will start the cleanup on County Road 813 off County Road 222.

We hope to see you there!
